In addition to Sunday morning study, and Wednesday night activities, our Youth Group is very active in our community, and the Mennonite Church community.
Every year the youth participate in a service trip, where they go to another community and help however they can. This year, they will be going to Denver to work with the DOOR (Discovering Opportunities for Outreach and Reflection), a faith based network of urban service-learning programs that expose and motivate participants to respond to issues in the urban world.
Every other year, the youth attend the Mennonite Church USA Youth Conference. It’s a time to get to meet other youth within the larger church to worship and learn together. Last year, the youth went to Pittsburg, PA.
All this traveling means a lot of fundraisers, which is one of the favorite things about youth group! (It involves food, right?) Our most famous fundraisers are the Burger Bash, Chili Feed, and Taco Salad Sunday. We are blessed with a congregation that is so supportive of our youth activities, as these generally have a large turn out!
